An national level exit exam, may soon be a reality for clearing MBBS in the country. Niti Ayog in its Draft National Medical Commission Bill, 2016 has put forward both a National Entry and Exit Exam towards regulation of the medical education in the country.
Further, from the Proposed Bill – ‘National Medical Council Bill, 2016’, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) shall be merged with the Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB). There is a possibility of merging the qualifying exam viz., exit exam for domestic MBBS and FMGE for foreign medical degree holders with that of PG entrance exam and a single exam of PG level catering both as licenseute exam and PG entrance may prevail. There will be no difference left between domestic and foreign MBBS.

The Hindu Newspaper reports the dilemma being faced by the students who appeared for NEET as the seats in private colleges come at very high cost not affordable by middle income groups. The newspaper reported that the pressure from private college managements yielded to increase in the fee from 27 to 41 per cent to end the chaos over government-quota seats.
The Eenadu Newspaper reports that Niti Aayog in their Interim report submitted to Government of India mentions that private medical colleges should be allowed to fix their own fees and there should not be any regulation from Govt. Even the commercial concerns should be permitted to start new colleges, by bringing amendments to law. They recommended replacement of MCI with a transparent regulatory body.
Further Eenadu Newspaper reports that Telangana Government is contemplating on approaching Supreme Court for extension of deadline date of completion of medical admission process, due to leakage and re-conducting of TS EAMCET.
