This advisory is intended to be for the Indian students who are desirous of studying medicine or/and at present studying medicine in Belarus as 99% of students from India belong to medicine discipline.
Admission Process in Belarusian Medical Institutions
There are four Medical Universities namely Vitbsek State Medical University, Gomel State Medical University, Grodno State Medical University and Belarus State Medical University in Minsk. All these universities are recognized by the Belarusian Government and by the WHO. According to Medical Council of India (MCI) regulations, an Indian student who studied in a foreign university and if the university is recognized by the WHO, he is eligible for appearing at the screening tests of MCI.

Hostels facilities are reasonably good.
Background information on Belarus:
In a nutshell, in Belarus a stable political and law & order situation exists. The prevailing conditions are sufficiently conducive to educational courses for foreign students.
Security and safety of Foreign Students
Unless the students indulge in anti-social activities, the security and safety of the Indian students are generally good. There is no information of any racist attack on any Indian citizen in Belarus. Till date no untoward incident has come to the notice of the Embassy. As a law-abiding denizen, there will be no problem.

The President has also made an announcement that the Government of India had decided to extend line of credit for 100 million USD for jointly agreed projects. He also announced the decision of the Government of India to grant Market Economy Status to Belarus.
During the visit, a degree of Professor Honoris Causa was conferred upon the President by the Belarusian State University. He also inaugurated a bust of Mahatma Gandhi in the campus of the Belarus State University. The Grodno Power project completed by BHEL was jointly inaugurated by the two Presidents at the Business Forum. Nine business agreements were signed during the Business Forum.

MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – Leading universities of Belarus and India have
signed memoranda of cooperation, BelTA has learned.
The Indira Gandhi National Tribal University has signed memorandums
with the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics,
the Belarusian State University of Physical Education and Sports, the
Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts. The Indian Institute of
Technology Guwahati signed memorandums with the Belarusian National
Technical University, the Belarusian State University of Informatics and
Radioelectronics. The Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology
Nagpur signed memorandums of cooperation with the Belarusian State
University of Informatics and Radioelectronics and Belarusian National
Technical University.
According to Education Minister Mikhail Zhuravkov, the signing of the
memorandums between the leading higher educational institutions of Belarus and India will contribute to the
development of cooperation in the field of education and science, facilitate the exchange of delegations and
relevant programs of cooperation and will promote direct contacts between the universities. “I am sure that
our cooperation will be fruitful and will bring mutual benefits,” the Minister said

Regional Scientific Medical Library of Gomel State Medical University is the center of the information space of the university. The library serves the faculty, graduate students, medical residents, doctors, interns, students, university staff and medical staff of health facilities in Gomel and region.
The library has a rich collection of educational, scientific, medical, industry, and foreign literature. Every year the library subscribes to more than 70 titles of periodicals in Russia and Belarus. The users of the library have access to global medical resources, electronic catalog and virtual reference service to other libraries via the Internet. Electronic library of the university has been operating since September 2006. It contains a large amount of electronic documents, including textbooks, teaching aids, scientific collections, proceedings of conferences and so forth. The electronic library has the ability to instant search of necessary document by title, author, keywords.

The whole procedure of the admission process to Belarusian universities and colleges is quite simple and transparent. There are no entry tests and international certificates of English language proficiency (IELTS, etc.) are not required.
The medical universities of Belarus are listed in World Directory of Medical Schools published by World Health Organization, Avicenna Directories, International Medical Education Directory of FAIMER, thus having global validity for the medical degrees and also approved by the General Medical Council of UK and Medical Council of India.
